The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Italy, sought a secure and scalable platform to support their "Welcome" project, which aims to facilitate the integration of refugees into Italian society. The platform needed to manage user registration, connect refugees with essential services, and provide informative resources – all while adhering to strict data privacy regulations.

Rocket Path partnered with UNHCR Italy to design and implement a custom platform built on the Drupal framework. Here's how we addressed their challenges:

Our team leveraged the flexibility of Drupal to create a user-friendly platform tailored to the specific needs of UNHCR Italy and its beneficiaries. This platform offered functionalities for:

• User registration and management for refugees and service providers.

• Secure access to relevant resources and information.

• Integration with existing databases of services and organizations.

We implemented robust security measures within the Drupal platform, ensuring user data privacy and compliance with GDPR regulations. We integrated Microsoft Entra, a comprehensive identity and access management (IAM) solution. This provided a centralized layer of control for user authentication and authorization. Microsoft Entra ensures only authorized users can access the Welcome platform with appropriate permissions, further safeguarding sensitive refugee data and adhering to GDPR regulations.

The platform leverages the scalability and cost-efficiency of Amazon Web Services (AWS) with deployment on Amazon EKS for seamless resource scaling as the project grows. This secure, user-friendly, and future-proof solution empowers UNHCR Italy to effectively support refugees on their integration journey.
